Description

Dendrimer Technology by Ryan Hayes, PhD

ABSTRACT:
Dendrimers, highly branched spherically-shaped polymers, represent a new class of materials for delivering actives and ingredients that will soon be commercialized in the personal care industry.  Dendrimers have been studied by many researchers over the last two decades and achieved limited commercial success in the diagnostic and research reagent markets.  Breakthrough technology and materials developed by DNT is now able to meet the requirements for commercializing into higher volume markets, such as personal care.  This presentation will highlight the important features of dendrimers and draw distinctions to other delivery systems.  In addition, the safety and regulatory issues surrounding these unique polymeric materials will be discussed.

SPEAKER BIO:
Dr. Hayes is responsible for the business development activities of DNT which include interfacing with potential business partners and coordinating sales of DNT’s dendrimer materials. His experience includes work as a research scientist and educator, and Dr. Hayes has worked in many areas of science and industry to develop new technologies and ingredients including cosmetics, pharmaceutics, inks, plastics, chemical sensors, and research reagents.  He received his Ph.D. in Physical Organic Chemistry from Northwestern University. He joined Dendritic Nanotechnologies, Inc. in 2005 to help commercialize dendrimers.
