Scott's Spot
Another year has passed, 2008 is upon us, and
with it comes a new line-up of resolutions that
have likely come and gone like the 2007 year. This
year, I would like to challenge the members of the
Midwest SCC to make a resolution to become more
active in our great society. Make an effort in 2007
to not only attend meetings, but be actively
engaged in our group. Look for opportunities to
meet new people, make new contacts, and serve
on committees for upcoming events. The SCC is a
volunteer organization and the Midwest Chapter is
incredibly fortunate to have a strong group of
leaders serving on committees and board
positions, but we are always in need of more
assistance and leadership.
With the 2008 year comes a new line-up of
meetings and the Midwest Chapter is diligently
planning programs. Two members, Chris Boone
and Rosalyn Conway have stepped up in 2008 to
assist the chapter with securing the best venues
and speakers. Rosalyn has already secured some
great speakers for 2008, but still has speaker slots
open. I would encourage our membership to offer
speaker ideas to Rosalyn or to the Midwest board
or I would also challenge our membership to speak
at one of our events if you have a pertinent topic
of interest.
On top of the Midwest Chapter’s normal line-up of
meetings in 2008, the chapter will once again host
Teamworks 2008 on March 26. This event is
shaping up to be one of the largest shows yet and
Darryl Zehner and the Teamworks committee have
been diligently planning and organizing the event.
In addition to the Teamworks event, Margie Best is
again planning the social night and a wonderful
venue, the Navy Pier, has been chosen for the
evening of March 25.
I would like to close this spot by offering my
thanks to the chapter members for giving me the
opportunity to serve as your chair in 2008. I am
grateful for the opportunity and look forward to
working with all of you to make 2008 one of the
best years yet for the Midwest Chapter!
