The Formulation Scientist will report to a manager and work closely with fellow scientists, marketing, legal, regulatory and business unit partners to develop commercially viable personal care and OTC drug formulations aligned with business, consumer, and technical insights. This position will be located at our Kimberly-Clark Research & Engineering offices in Neenah, Wisconsin.

Description

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with technical leaders and business partners to translate technical, business and consumer knowledge into profitable formulated product opportunities.
• Contribute as a team member on large projects and/or lead such programs within our Corporate Research and Engineering organization by identifying, recommending, and delivering formulated technologies for compositions that are aligned with business unit aspirations primarily in the areas of skin care and infection control.
• Protect technologies and products through appropriate use of patents, technical peer-reviewed publications, and trade secrets.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant scientific discipline (i.e. chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology) and 8 – 10 years of industrial research experience in formulation development or a similar advanced degree and 5 years or more of industrial experience.
• Ability to work safely in both laboratory and diverse manufacturing settings.
• Possess a fundamental understanding of formulation science, its practical application, industry standards, and practices.
• Leadership experience towards the commercialization of technical innovations for topical drug products; experience with formulation of personal care products is also valued.
• Ability to prioritize assignments in an ever changing fast-paced-team environment
• Travel up to 25% (domestic and international).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with raw material vendors and contract manufacturers to complement internal development efforts.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience leading the translation of laboratory findings to industrial processes.
• Familiarity with U.S. drug regulations as they relate to consumer, professional, and health care products is highly desirable.
• Experience with searching and reading patents and the procurement of new patents to shelter intellectual property.
• Ability to work in an international environment – previous experience is highly valued.
• Language skills beyond English will be an advantage for the ideal candidate.
